The main goals of the course are to develop your ability to understand and discuss different aspects of the cultures found in a variety of countries around the world. Each chapter in the textbook focuses on the culture and variety of English spoken in one of 15 countries. We will only be able to cover 10 of the chapters during the course, so students will be given the opportunity to suggest changes to the selection of countries listed below. Each lesson will involve previewing key vocabulary, watching a video clip, reading and listening to a short passage, and answering comprehension questions. The lesson will then finish with small group discussions of the topics raised in the chapter, and how they relate to the students' own travels and experiences.Opportunities for interaction among the professor and students will be provided throughout the course. このコースでは世界のいろいろな国の文化の多様性について学ぶ中で、英語によるディスカッションがスムーズに出来るようにそのスキルと知識の向上を目指します。テキストには15か国の文化や英語事情が各章に分かれて載っていますが、今回はその中から参加者が選ぶ10か国を考察します。それぞれの章について語彙の予習学習、ビデオの鑑賞、解説文の読み聴きを行い、その後、その内容が各参加者のいままでの経験などとどのように繋がるかを小グループでディスカッションします。このコースは講師との英語による交流の機会を多く持てるように工夫されています。

ＲＯＳＳＺＥＬＬＨｕｇｈ・ Ｒｏｄｅｒｉｃｋ（ロッセールヒュー・ローデリック）明治大学国際日本学研究科兼任講師、東京外国語大学講師2007年テンプル大学ジャパンキャンパス大学院博士課程修了。東京女子大学、御茶ノ水女子大学、上智大学、東北大学、明治大学で講師を務める。過去8年間に渡り全国英語学会の分野別研究会のコミッティーメンバーとして学会の世話役を担当。
