Exploring World Heritage Sites

The main goals of the course are to develop your English skills and knowledge sufficiently to allow you to participate in discussions about World Heritage Sites. The 15 World Heritage Sites in the textbook are distributed across six continents. We will only be able to cover 10 of the chapters during the course, and students will be given the opportunity to suggest changes to the 10 sites listed below. Each lesson will involve previewing key vocabulary, watching an NHK video clip, reading and listening to a short passage, discussing comprehension questions in small groups, and will then finish with some short grammar and writing exercises. Frequent opportunities for interaction among the professor and students will be provided throughout the course. このコースでは世界遺産についての英語によるディスカッションがスムーズに出来るようにそのスキルと知識の向上を目指します。6大陸に広がる15の世界遺産の中からテキストを使って参加者が望む10カ所を選び、それぞれの章について語彙の予習学習、NHKビデオの鑑賞、解説文の読み聴き、小グループでのディスカッションなどを行い、最後に短い文法説明と作文練習をします。このコースでは講師との英語による交流の機会を多く持てるように工夫されています。

ＲＯＳＳＺＥＬＬＨｕｇｈ　Ｒｏｄｅｒｉｃｋ（ロッセールヒュー・ローデリック）元明治大学国際日本学研究科特任准教授、元東京外国語大学講師2007年テンプル大学ジャパンキャンパス大学院博士課程修了。東京女子大学、御茶ノ水女子大学、上智大学、東北大学、明治大学で講師を務める。過去8年間に渡り全国英語学会の分野別研究会のコミッティーメンバーとして学会の世話役を担当。
